VERONICA START
singer | songwriter | holistic vocal coach
Music has always been more than performance for me. It has been a way of finding hope, discovering my authentic voice, and connecting with others through meaningful expression.
Over the past three decades, my career has taken me from live performance and international recording to vocal coaching and education. Whether I’m writing music, performing on stage, or helping singers discover their own voices, my purpose remains the same: helping people express themselves with greater confidence, authenticity, and heart.
Professional Music Career
For more than three decades, Veronica Start has built a diverse career as a singer, songwriter, recording artist, performer, educator, and holistic vocal coach.
After beginning her professional singing career in Vancouver during the 1990s with a Feldman Agency band, she developed her songwriting alongside acclaimed engineer and producer John Shepp while working in one of the city’s first digital recording studios. During this time, her voice (under her former name Dawn Bruno) also appeared on Johnny Jet Records’ release of Jam It by Finesse & Showbiz, produced by Troy Samson.
In the early 2000s, Veronica relocated to England, where she performed regularly in pubs and live music venues while continuing to write and record original material. Her independent debut EP, Star Mixes, introduced the single “You’re a Star,” which reached #11 on the UK Music Week Pop Chart and became a dance-floor favourite in Scotland.
She later collaborated with producer Robbie Bronnimann (Supersaw) on a reimagined recording of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” exposing her voice to more than 40 million syndicated radio listeners worldwide, followed by the release of her original single “Unrequited.”
Over the years, Veronica’s music has received international airplay and support from influential DJs including Sasha, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, and Graham Gold, while appearing on respected broadcasters including BBC Radio 1, Ministry of Sound, Kiss 100, Galaxy FM (UK), and BPM (USA).
Today, Veronica focuses primarily on vocal coaching and education while continuing to write and record original music. Her professional music career remains the foundation of the work she now shares through Soul Singer Coach.

From Artist to Educator
Throughout my music career, I became increasingly curious about what truly makes great singers unforgettable.
Every stage of the journey—from performing in Vancouver and England, to writing and recording original music, to collaborating with producers, broadcasters, and audiences around the world—deepened my understanding that meaningful singing is about far more than vocal technique.
I found myself exploring the relationships between psychology, physiology, artistic identity, and authentic expression, discovering how each one shapes not only the voice itself, but the way an audience experiences a performance.
Those discoveries eventually became the foundation of Soul Singer Coach and the Sing with Soul framework, bringing together decades of professional performing experience with evidence-informed approaches to vocal development.
Today, my primary focus is helping singers develop greater confidence, artistic identity, and expressive performance while continuing to write and record original music behind the scenes. My hope is that the lessons I’ve learned throughout my own journey can help others discover not only a stronger voice, but a deeper connection to themselves through music.
